Dental surgery
Modern dentistry is a long way from the old image
of something to be frightened of and only to be
endured as a last resort, when the pain of a toothache
becomes unbearable
One dentist at least believes in an holistic and caring
approach to her profession and wanted her new
surgery to reflect that in its deign and colour scheme.

CUTAWAY AXONOMETRIC
When a Moray dental practitioner decided to set up her own practice, she turned to Ichthus Architects to turn the interior of the listed building she was leasing into a dental surgery that would combine her belief in an holistic approach to dentistry with the provision of the latest dental hi-technology.
CUTAWAY AXONOMETRIC
She wanted a building conversion that has no intimidating sharp edges, but one that is soft, warm and inviting both in its physical appearance and colour scheme.
CUTAWAY 3D PLAN
The existing listed building had been a furniture shop for many years with a residential flat above, and a warehouse behind which
has been rebuilt as a residential unit.
The dentist has a lease on the whole of the ground floor, but a
franchise on part of the building to a podiatrist gives an additional source of
income. She has now added another dental surgery in the former studio area. |
The layout comprises a Reception and waiting area painted a cool refreshing mint green with a curved silver painted desk.
Entrance to the Surgery itself is past a curved entrance wall and wc partition.
In contrast to the hi-tech surgery with glass shelving and counter top basins.............
.............there is a screened off Snug Room, (curved screen of course) decorated in warm terra cotta - complete with Corbusier chaise longe - where nervous patients can be treated, others can be numbed and be waiting whilst an inspection on another patient is conducted out of sight in the
Surgery.
